Deeper than the ocean, softer than the flowers, there is a love that never lets go.
I painted this piece because something about the way the turtle watches over her little ones immediately reminded me of my own two children.
As a mother, I know that feeling of watching over your children with a love that is difficult to put into words. You want to protect them, keep them close, and make sure they feel safe, even as you know they will eventually find their own way.
While painting this scene, I kept thinking about that quiet bond between a mother and her children- the comfort of knowing they are there, and the feeling that, no matter how far they go, a mother's love never really lets go!
